Position Summary: Solutions Engineer - Security

The Solutions Engineer operates as a function for the sales team and provides detailed technical sales support to insure successful client integration and implementation of company solutions. This position reports to the Director of Solutions Engineering within the sales organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-sales technical resource for MicroAge supporting IT infrastructure including client/server, networking, storage, virtualization and applications
  • Support sales team through pre-sales and/or post-sales technical consulting activities
  • Provide technical support with sales presentations and product demonstrations of company solutions to ensure client satisfaction
  • Consult with MicroAge clients supporting company products and solutions
  • Collaboratively architect solutions for clients following best practices and procedures, validating designs
  • Address client technology challenges, pain points and growth initiatives where analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors and problem resolution
  • Presenting solutions to clients with technical design justifications
  • Answer client inquiries concerning hardware and software applications and provides consultation to prospective clients
  • Understand, develop and deliver systems/applications solutions to customers business, information, technical and educational needs
  • Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situation or data from which answers can be readily obtained
  • Have a deep and detailed working knowledge of company products and services
  • Supports client visits both locally and throughout US
  • Assignment may be at customer site, remote response center, corporate location or other site
  • Ongoing education and testing to acquire technical certifications in order to support company partner authorization levels
  • Understanding and communicating partner programs in order to support internal sales team
  • Provide partner deal registration support to sales team
  • Support MicroAge Learning and Development with designing technical curriculum
  • Instructor for MicroAge Learning and Development technical courses


  • 5+ years’ of technical engineering experience in the Security space while supporting sales
  • Current advanced certifications in Security products preferred
  • A proven strategic background with a thorough knowledge of Security products for complex customer solutions is required
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, organization, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with executives, customers, vendors and department staff
  • Able to work independently or in a group environment
  • Up to 10% travel
