Patient care often involves X-rays, ultrasounds and other imaging options. When your patients are the four-legged kind you must rely on specific imaging technology for diagnosis and treatment. For hundreds of veterinary practices nationwide, this company sets the industry standard. With its leading digital radiography, cloud-based picture archiving and communication system (PACS), ultrasound and imaging services suite in veterinary medicine, the fast-growing company offers products and services designed expressly for animal imaging.
Working with massive imaging files meant data storage expansion was at the top of its must-have list. Along with its own significant data storage needs, it was merging with another veterinary diagnostic company and acquiring several new major clients, so reliable data management with quick access and room for growth was critical. Teaming up to bring the best of home office reach and local service support to the client, MicroAge’s Mike LaPorta responded with a data storage expansion solution that turned out to be the cat’s meow!
Mike developed a solution to scale up and optimize all back-end infrastructure specifying HP BladeSystem c7000 enclosures, ProLiant BL460c Gen8 Blade Servers, Virtual Connect Flex-10, 5800 networking switches and Intel Xeon 2.9 six-core processors.
The solution ensures that service will continue without interruption for the hundreds of veterinary clinic clients that utilize the company’s services, buy its X-ray equipment and rely on accessing large files through its system.
Offering 128 gigs of memory per blade, the solution powerfully addressed the need for extensive data storage expansion and access.
In addition, the solution included EMC VNXe 3300 storage area networks (SANs), disk arrays and spare drives; VMware vSphere Enterprise Plus acceleration; Cisco ASA 5510 Firewall; and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Datacenter.
As extensive as the solution was, MicroAge’s ease in working with the company’s local services provider was a notable value-add for the client, as was its ability to ensure all project elements—services and products—were indicated on a single master lease. “Because of MicroAge’s relationships, we could seamlessly craft a large solution with numerous partners…the IT director really appreciated our flexibility as we tied it all together,” says Mike. And not only was the data storage expansion seamless, but it also was delivered a few weeks before the company’s merger deadline.
From the company’s perspective, MicroAge’s performance really was “best in show.”
