Any company with a brick-and-mortar store for merchandise sales knows the importance of having point-of-sale (POS) terminals that process payments quickly and easily — for both customers and employees. For a large motorsports company that owns multiple NASCAR teams, gearing up for a special event last year also meant the need for PCI-compliant POS stations.
PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) dictates the technical and operational requirements merchants and service providers must follow to protect cardholder data when storing, processing or transmitting credit cards.
With just under a month to go before their event, the company’s security manager knew this was a job for MicroAge’s Schan Krug.

“It was a very smooth deployment with the POS-X technical team offering 24/7 support,” Schan says.
The client was expecting several thousand credit card transactions in that one weekend, and having an updated POS system not only meant PCI compliance, but getting people through the line faster too.
The whole process made for a happy client.
