The Consulting Cybersecurity Engineer is a primary technical resource for the field sales organization, working closely with Account Managers and Solutions Architects to secure initial business as well as grow new business opportunities within existing client accounts.  The Consulting Cybersecurity Engineer combines industry technical knowledge with sales consulting skills and applies practical security experience to guide the sales team, address the client’s specific needs, continue to evolve our Cybersecurity practice, and increase MicroAge’s credibility.

  • Client Consultation
    • Determine client’s needs, establish rapport, and become a “source of truth” for the client.
    • Assess client cyber-risk strategies, processes, and solutions.
    • Align client solutions to their security frameworks.
    • Articulate the benefits of the MicroAge solution portfolio to various client stakeholders.
    • Describe solution technical and feature capabilities and differentiators.
    • Maintain technical advisor relationships with clients and provide thought leadership, support, information, and guidance.
  • Presales and Technical Support
    • Build strong relationships with sales team members.
    • Provide second-level technical support to sales teams by developing client opportunities and potential technological solutions.
    • Identify security design gaps in existing and proposed client architectures and recommend changes or enhancements.
    • Consult on more complicated opportunities that may involve customization or integrating multiple technology solutions.
    • Recognize and communicate current and emerging security threats
    • Design security architecture elements to mitigate threats as they emerge
    • Participate in technical planning sessions with Clients
    • Contribute to RFI/RFP technical responses.
    • Leverage professional contacts within the organization and community.
  • Solution Architect Enablement
    • Create and administer Cybersecurity technical enablement program for all solutions.
    • Develop technical questions for the sales qualification process.
    • Enable and mentor SAs to be the first-level touch for customers and help them know what questions to ask, what conversations to have, and who to have the conversations with.
    • Build collaboration among team members by sharing information and resources.
    • Develop continuing education programs to build Cybersecurity awareness.
    • Provide guidance on Cybersecurity Consulting Services sales strategies.
  • Cybersecurity Technical SME
    • Share general cybersecurity industry knowledge.
    • Consult on the status and future direction of Cybersecurity technology such as machine learning, deep learning, and AI.
    • Provide deep expertise in CASB, IAM, PAM, and SIEM.
    • Develop and articulate the impact that risk has on enterprise IT.
    • Maintain general data center technology knowledge.
  • Partner Management
    • Evaluate technical capabilities of partner and potential partner products.
    • Disseminate partner solution updates.
    • Build and maintain feature comparison matrices.
    • Develop and maintain key technical relationships with partners.
  • Cybersecurity Practice Expansion
    • Research and assess security technology, explore new innovations and test new and emerging technologies.
    • Assist in the development of new Solutions offerings.
    • Recognize and pursue opportunities, target markets, and go-to-market strategies to develop business.
    • Differentiate MicroAge solutions by features, technical differentiators, and markets.
    • Design security architecture elements to mitigate threats as they emerge
    • Drive partner “converged solution” development.
    • Align solutions to security frameworks.
    • Develop new technical solutions to solve evolving business risk and compliance needs.
    • Align with all practice areas based on experience and expertise.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Cybersecurity engineering/practitioner experience is required.
    • Prior experience in networking is a plus.
  • Preferred Manufacturer Certifications with one or more of our core technology solution competencies: Data Security, Identity & Access Management (IAM), Email Security & Resilience, and more.
  • At least one of the following professional certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, OSCP, or other relevant professional certifications.
  • Thorough understanding of the current cybersecurity threat landscape.
  • Knowledge of enterprise IT architecture.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements such as SOX, PCI, and HIPAA is a plus.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively with vendors, prospects, clients, Account Managers, Solution Architects, MicroAge Consultants, and management.
  • Ability to build relationships with and influence other functional areas.
  • Strong presentation, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Process-oriented with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong relationships in the cybersecurity community within the MicroAge region.
  • Ability to travel within MicroAge territory and beyond as occasionally needed.
  • Valid US driver’s license.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
