Director of Business Optimization – Full-Time, Remote (USA Only)

Remote work from home with monthly travel to Phoenix, AZ or if local, hybrid work from home with 1-2 days a week in the Phoenix, AZ or Scottsdale, AZ field offices

To that end, we are hiring this position to work collaboratively across departments at MicroAge to identify areas for improvement, developing strategies to optimize processes and implement strategies to ensure sustainable growth.

While the primary objective of this role is to identify opportunities for optimization in the business and manage the implementation of those changes, the intention is for each department to perform most of the optimization execution. However, this role will also require some hands-on participation in the execution of changes to ensure the projects are completed in a timely manner once identified and prioritized.

Example areas of business optimization that could be considered in scope would be the following:

  • Sales Process Streamlining
  • Analyze the sales process to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies
  • Implement automated tools to streamline order processing and reduce manual tasks
  • Increase sales by providing real time tools for the Account Executives to explain our value proposition, describe technical benefits, handle objections, expand our product and services offerings, and garner additional margins.
  • Operations Consolidation
  • Integrating systems and processes to ensure orders are processed more efficiently and accurately through our systems.
  • Automate our Accounts Payable process to improve the accuracy of billings and payments.
  • Supplier Management Improvement
  • Review current supplier management system and identify effective ways to manage contracts, manage strategic supplier relationships, etc.
  • IT Infrastructure
  • Review IT systems and determine whether any processes could be moved to the cloud
  • Optimization of backend system integrations
  • Employee Training and Development
  • Create a comprehensive training program to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Implement continuous learning initiatives to keep employees updated with the latest industry trends.
  • Marketing and Lead Generation Optimization
  • Analyze marketing campaigns to identify the most effective strategies.
  • Implement tools to automate lead generation and tracking.
  • Customer Support Enhancements
  • Improve the customer support system to ensure quick and effective resolution of issues.
  • Implement self-service options to reduce the load on support staff.
  • Services Effectiveness
  • Create tools to allow our Services team to better service our clients.

Key Responsibilities you’ll have as a Director of Business Optimization:

  • Lead Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities across the organization. Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze current processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies. Design and implement optimized processes to improve productivity and reduce costs.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and measure the impact of improvement initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with department heads and teams to ensure alignment and support for continuous improvement efforts.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and support to associates on continuous improvement methodologies and tools. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.
  • Change Management: Lead change management efforts to ensure successful implementation of improvement initiatives. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gain buy-in and support.
  • Industry Research: Stay current on industry trends in relationship to process improvement and the use of GenAI tools to optimize business efficiency.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on the status and impact of continuous improvement initiatives. Present findings and recommendations to senior management.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a continuous improvement role, preferably within the IT or technology sector.
  • Strong knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).Six Sigma Blackbelt certification preferred.
  • Experience with corporate automation tools and corporate data systems including collection, warehousing and visualization. Experience with Microsoft Power Platform including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and Microsoft Dataverse/Fabric preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and project management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Strong presentation, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Valid US driver’s license.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
