Every quarter, MicroAge recognizes an associate for their commitment to supporting our clients and team members and for living our values every day.

Meet Mike LaPorta, our Associate of the Quarter for Q4 and an Account Executive in the greater Chicago area. Mike has almost two decades of channel sales experience and has been building meaningful client relationships and results at MicroAge for the last seven years. Mike is known for his attention to detail and ability to empower his clients in navigating the most challenging IT obstacles.

1. What brought you to MicroAge?

Work-life balance, company culture and working in the field as an account executive. I was ready for more autonomy, professionally and financially.

 2. What’s your average day like at MicroAge?

Every day is different. That’s what’s great about helping organizations build out IT solutions and strategies. Technologies are evolving quickly, so there are always new challenges and opportunities to navigate in clearing a path to innovation.

3. What do you love about working at MicroAge?

At MicroAge, we build relationships based on trust, and that starts with our own team members. Our leadership team trusts the experts to find new approaches leveraging emerging technologies and our growing partnerships. The flexibility to work outside-of-the-box means I can bring my clients the highest level of support available.

4. We know every team member makes more possible. How are you making a difference for our customers and team members?

My priority as an IT solutions provider at MicroAge is harnessing my experience, resources, partnerships, and management skills to bring value to my clients. That value is in creating a true partnership—built on trust—from my ability to save time, increase available resources, streamline processes, increase productivity, and find new approaches to solving problems.

My main focus is making elevating my connections to making powerful impressions with their managers, directors, c-level executives and in the boardroom. 

5. Which of the MicroAge values resonate with you most and why? (Add value to everything we do  •  Respect our relationships  •  Act with integrity • Make things happen  •  Do it right the first time •  Have fun!)

Definitely, Have fun! I love building relationships with my clients by visiting them face-to-face onsite, and arranging fun events to learn more about their life, family and friends.

6. What’s your best MicroAge moment?

Winning the solution of the year in 2017. It’s moments like that when I realize I’m really making a difference for my clients and their technology outcomes.

7. What do you enjoy doing most?

I love enjoying time with my family and friends. Traveling, running, golf and cooking… back to that value of having fun.

8. What’s the best advice you’ve been given in your career?

Measure twice, cut once!
