Every quarter, MicroAge recognizes an associate for their commitment to supporting our clients and team members and for living our values every day.

Meet Scott Jeffery, our Associate of the Quarter for Q1. Scott has been a constant team player, empowering and educating associates across the company for almost seven years. He has an impressive technical acumen and attends most of our company events to support more opportunities to learn (and teach) more.

Most recently, Scott launched MicroAge’s new Business Development Representatives (BDR) program. He has led the team through hiring and training efforts and aligning their messaging with corporate goals.

Scott shares more about his background at MicroAge and what he’s passionate about in and outside of the office:

1. What brought you to MicroAge/why did you want to work here?

Several (i.e., MicroAge Line of Business Leaders and Executives) visited my LinkedIn profile, over a two-week period. When I found a director, who had parallel experience to my background in Organizational Development, Instructional Design and Performance Consulting, I called her to chat.

Something the Director of Learning & Development and VP of HR said to me was what really made me accept:

“Scott, I want to extend an offer to you to join our team; but before we talk specifics, we want you to understand something, that is very important. We have been looking for YOU, for nearly a year now. We met a lot of talented and experienced people; but none were the exact right fit to enable our team…until now….”

Since the late nineties, I led my clients’ projects, on which MicroAge was a partner. When I saw that MicroAge sought someone of my background and skills, I had to consider that our paths were crossing for a good reason.

2. Tell us about what you do every day in your role:

I’ll oversimplify and say that I am a sales enabler and a performance enhancer: I manage and coach a team of Business Development Representatives. I also train, write workshops and provide ad hoc coaching. I’m continually earning technical and sales certificates to elevate MicroAge competencies and AE performance.

Some of my special projects include rollout of Client Relationship Management (CRM) Software, interoperability between our quoting/order system with other EROs externally, and helping clients self-register and self-serve via custom store sites.

3. What do you love about working at MicroAge?

Helping people succeed and grow. And the opportunity to create something new and help it grow — whether that’s a workshop or even an entire Business Development Representative program.

4. We know every team member makes more possible. How are you making a difference?

I have the great pleasure of helping people create a vision of what is possible — beyond the sale or purchase of an item. I help them envision how they can keep what they love (e.g., small team delivering big results, quality and care their great-great-great-great grandparents put into the business, etc.). All while transforming their business into something amazing, relevant and positioned for long-term health and growth.

5. Which of our MicroAge values resonate with you most and why? (Add value to everything we do  •  Respect our relationships  •  Act with integrity • Make things happen  •  Do it right the first time •  Have fun!)

All of them, but Add value to everything [I] do and to the relationships I build has always been my personal mission.

6. What is your best MicroAge memory?

It hasn’t happened yet. (I’m a futurist.) However, I have to say that any time I see someone else get an award or earn a big commission, it makes me very happy to see them grow beyond where they were when we met.

7. Who inspires you and why?

Too many…far too many reasons to list here. …because they had passion and a vision of how their efforts and outcomes would matter to others.

8. What do you enjoy doing most outside of the office?

Cooking and entertaining with great friends and my dog / dog friends.

9. What’s the best advice you’ve been given in your career?

It wasn’t given to me as advice. I combine and consolidate what I observe and read:

Come from a place of service. Choose friends and clients who share your passions. Interact with clients as if they were friends, whom you genuinely wish to help. Then, bring them the gift of knowledge and connections to help them get what they need and want in life.
